Northton Machair
Walk across the machair ( sandy shore-plain ) through a spectacular flower cover in mid summer towards a ruined chapel in the shadow of Chaipaval. In the nesting season a wide variety of ground nesting and wading birds can be seen and heard, with the possibility of sighting seaqls and porpoises offshore.
West side
Horgabost/Seilibost
A circular over machair land to Macleod's Stone with excellent views of Taransay and the North Harris hills. A short drive to Seilibost then allow for a beach and estuary walk with opportunities to watch terns from the dunes.
Rodel
Borrisdale- Rodel
Following the old track from Borrisdale to Rodel there are lovely views of the Sound of Harris and Skye. A peacful walk around the loch to the north of the village will allow you to experience this area at its best.
